Pilot privacy notice

Last updated: 20 September 2026

Who we are

FamSignal is currently running a four-week founding pilot, operated by Amrit Minhas, trading as FamSignal. Amrit Minhas is the data controller and decides how personal information collected for the pilot is used.

Privacy contact: hello@famsignal.co.uk
Correspondence address: FamSignal, 11-15 Coventry Road, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, LE16 9BX, United Kingdom.

What we collect

We collect the participating adult’s first name and email address; postcode district or local-authority area; broad child age bands; topic, distance, cost, timing and source preferences; answers about current information sources and recently missed information; feedback on pilot editions; and engagement, action and payment decisions recorded against a participant ID.

We do not ask for children’s names, exact dates of birth, full home addresses, diagnoses, health records, exact income, school-account credentials, benefit login details or payment-card details.

Why we use it

We use this information to decide whether a household fits the pilot, personalise four weekly FamSignal editions, send selected urgent pilot alerts where requested, ask for and analyse research feedback, correct inaccurate profile information, evaluate whether the service should continue, and offer a later paid beta where the adult has separately chosen to hear about it.

Our lawful basis

We rely on consent for pilot communications and personalisation. Participants actively request the service and may withdraw at any time by emailing us. We ask separately for optional consent to contact a participant about a later paid service. Agreeing to future marketing is not required to join the research pilot.

Personalisation

We use postcode district, broad child age bands and selected preferences to decide which researched items are likely to be relevant. A person reviews the matches before each pilot edition is sent. FamSignal does not make decisions with legal, financial or similarly significant effects solely by automated means.

Where the information comes from

Profile information and feedback come directly from the participating adult. Family information included in editions comes from public national, local and provider sources. We do not obtain private participant information from schools, healthcare providers or government accounts.

Who processes the information

  • Tally BV collects applications and stores form responses.
  • Brevo stores the minimum contact details needed to send pilot emails, manage unsubscribes and provide email-delivery reporting.
  • IONOS provides the FamSignal mailbox used for replies and correspondence.
  • Google Gmail receives application notifications and supports pilot administration.
  • Cloudflare hosts the public pilot website.

We do not connect the pilot form to Google Sheets, Airtable or another external database. We do not sell participant information.

Email delivery and measurement

We use Brevo to send the pilot emails and manage unsubscribes. We intend to use anonymous email tracking so we can review overall delivery, open and link-click figures without linking opens or clicks to a named participant in campaign reports. We do not use individual engagement histories to personalise a family’s edition or make decisions about them. Open figures are approximate because some email services block images or generate automatic opens.

International transfers

Tally states that form data is encrypted in transit and at rest and stored in Europe. Some Tally subprocessors are outside the UK or EEA; Tally’s Data Processing Agreement provides for approved transfer safeguards, including standard contractual clauses where required.

Google operates servers around the world and information may be processed outside the UK. Google states that it uses recognised transfer mechanisms, including the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.

Brevo and IONOS may use subprocessors to provide email and hosting services. Their data-processing terms provide contractual safeguards where personal data is processed outside the UK or EEA.

Cloudflare operates internationally. Its Data Processing Addendum provides transfer safeguards for personal data processed outside the UK or EEA. The FamSignal site does not ask visitors to enter application details directly; the application form is provided by Tally.

How long we keep it

  • Applications from people not selected for the pilot will be deleted by 25 October 2026.
  • Pilot profiles and identifiable feedback will be deleted or anonymised by 16 January 2027, unless the participant joins the next stage or separately agrees to further research.
  • Contact details held solely for future FamSignal news will be reviewed by 15 September 2027 and deleted sooner if consent is withdrawn.
  • Anonymised research findings may be retained because they no longer identify a participant.

Your choices and rights

You may ask us to provide a copy of your personal information, correct inaccurate information, delete information where the right applies, restrict or object to certain uses, provide portable information where the right applies, stop pilot or marketing messages, or withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing.

Email hello@famsignal.co.uk to exercise these choices. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Security

We use dedicated FamSignal email accounts and an authenticated sending domain. Access is restricted to the pilot operator. Tally encrypts form data in transit and at rest. Research notes use participant IDs rather than names where practical, and contact details are kept separate from research notes.

Children

FamSignal is provided to parents and carers aged 18 or over. Children do not create accounts or communicate with the pilot. The participating adult supplies broad child age bands solely to match household information.

Pilot dates

The planned pilot editions are 27 September, 4 October, 11 October and 18 October 2026. We will tell applicants if these dates change.

Changes

If the service or use of information changes materially, we will update this notice and provide new information or obtain fresh consent where required.
